The Beijing Energy Network hosts regular presentations and reading groups throughout the year, as well as the occasional field trip, workshop or party.
Beijing Energy and Environment Roundtable (BEER) is BEN’s flagship activity, an approximately twice-monthly happy hour/speaker series including expert presentations, panel discussions and hands-on workshops. BEER events are free or low cost and open to all. All BEN events abide by Chatham House rules and take place off the record unless otherwise indicated by the speaker.
Every three weeks, BEN organizers host an informal reading group featuring a recently-published policy document or report, often with the author or an expert in the field present. Anyone interested in the topic may join in the discussion - not previous background required and questions welcome!
Beijing Cleantech Hackathon
In October 2018, BEN co-hosted a 12-hour business hackathon in collaboration with New Energy Nexus . Sponsored by GIZ, Mobike and Meituan, the Beijing Cleantech Hackathon featured two simultaneous competitions centered on sustainable transport and circular economy issues.
